REDEMPTION FRIDAY, 9PM, ITV1 DRAMA
A mother’s dangerous mission to uncover the truth about her estranged daughter’s death is at the heart of ITV1’s latest thriller, Redemption. From the makers of The Bay, the six-parter stars Paula Malcomson (who played Abby in the Sky Atlantic drama Ray Donovan) as no-nonsense DI Colette Cunningham, whose day-to-day life arresting criminals in Liverpool is thrown into turmoil after she receives a call from cops in Dublin saying they’ve found the body of her missing daughter, Stacey, who left home at 17.
A grief-stricken Colette travels to Ireland, where she makes the shocking discovery that she’s now guardian to two teenage grandchildren she never knew existed, while also beginning to suspect that Stacey was actually murdered.
Determined to get justice, Colette resolves to stay in Dublin and takes a job with the Garda, teaming up with fellow cop Siobhán Wilson (Us star Thaddea Graham) under the watchful eye of new boss Jane Connolly (Derry Girls favourite Siobhán McSweeney). But before long, she is forced to take the law into her own hands to find out what really happened to Stacey.
Here, Paula, 52, gives us her take on the drama…
