THE COUPLE NEXT DOOR
NEW MONDAY, 9PM, & TUESDAY, 9.15PM, C4 THRILLER (BOX SET, CHANNEL 4)
Dark secrets rock a seemingly idyllic street in C4’s steamy new suburban thriller The Couple Next Door.
The six-part series, which begins this week with two episodes, centres on teacher Evie (played by Poldark favourite Eleanor Tomlinson), who is thrilled to be moving to a well-heeled neighbourhood in Leeds with her journalist partner, Pete (Harry Potter star Alfred Enoch).
But quickly discovering that their glossy new world is awash with curtain-twitching and status anxiety, they’re pleased to make friends with their free-spirited neighbours – alpha traffic cop Danny (Outlander’s Sam Heughan) and his wife, yoga instructor Becka (The Secrets She Keeps star Jessica De Gouw).
As sparks start to fly between Evie and Danny, could all their lives be about to change forever?
TV Times caught up with Eleanor, 31, and Sam, 43, to find out more…
How would you describe this drama?
ELEANOR It’s an addictive show that leaves you wanting more. It starts with a gunshot and Evie running through the woods in distress. Then the next scene flashes back to peaceful suburbia. How does it end up there? There are twists and turns. Things fall apart, and it becomes dangerous.
