Get ready to be plunged into a world of sun, sea and secrets as Channel 5 whisks us to Malta for its latest mystery thriller The Wives.
Airing Monday to Wednesday this week and next, the six-part story centres around sisters-in-law Beth (Jo Joyner), Natasha (Angela Griffin) and Sylvie (Tamzin Outhwaite), whose lives were turned upside down a year ago when their fellow wife, Annabelle (Christine Bottomley), disappeared on the picturesque Mediterranean island and was presumed dead.
Now, as the Morgan families head back out to their lavish Maltese holiday apartments, there’s a shock in store as Annabelle’s husband Charlie (Jamie Bamber) arrives with his new girlfriend, Jade (Katie Clarkson-Hill), who bears an uncanny resemblance to his missing wife.
Soon convinced something is amiss, lost soul Beth, cash-strapped Natasha and newly single Sylvie embark on a mission to find out what really happened to Annabelle. But with danger lurking around every corner, have they bitten off more than they can chew?
‘It’s a real feminine feast of friendships and fatalities!’ promises Angela, 48, as we catch up with her, Jo, 47, and Tamzin, 53, to get more clues…
Where do we find your characters at the start of the series?
TAMZIN Sylvie, Natasha and Beth – who have been thrown together through being married to the Morgan brothers – are at a crossroads. My character, Sylvie, is telling everyone she’s having a midlife crisis. But I actually think that, post-divorce, she’s having a rebirth. She’s a 50-something woman who knows what she wants and this is the beginning of her new life.
