SO HOW do you think these two will celebrate their first anniversary? Perhaps with a meal whipped up by him, aspiring chef that he is – or maybe a night on the town, she dressed to the nines, he dangling those keys of his from the belt of his pants? It might be a dinner with the whole Beckham family, which would look great on Instagram but could be a little awks, given how relations have sullied somewhat between Posh and her daughter-in-law.
Whatever it is, it’s unlikely to be a warm and fuzzy look back at a day that should’ve been the dream of dreams. Forget the loved-up vows, the chef- prepared spread, the dazzling décor, the twinkling lights – there was enough drama surrounding Brooklyn and Nicola Peltz Beckham’s wedding to make a soap opera seem dull.
The latest in the saga of the high-class nuptials is being laid bare in court now, giving the world a fly-on-the-wall glimpse into the life of the mega-rich.
Nelson Peltz, Nicola’s 80-year-old billionaire father, spent more than $3 million (R54m) on his daughter’s wedding, which was held at his oceanfront home in Palm Beach, Florida, on the weekend of 9 April last year.
Nelson is worth $1,4 billion (over R25bn) but you know what they say about the rich: they rarely make their money from being generous. And Daddy Peltz is clearly not the kind of guy to let things go. He’s suing the original wedding planners, Nicole Braghin and Arianna Grijalba of Plan Design Events, who were hired by the Peltz family six weeks before the wedding.
After just nine days on the job they were sacked because they couldn’t hack it, apparently, and now Nelson wants his $159 000 (R2,8m) deposit back.
