You'd be lying to yourself if you say you've never cried yourself to sleep. As a fully functioning adult, I find no shame in accepting that there are days when I'd choose crying myself to sleep over taking some melatonin after a long and hard day (it's organic and just more cathartic, you see). While sometimes, one will have something to grieve or something to lose sleep over, but a lot of times it's pure frustration that has built up over time and is just begging for some kind of release.
Crying in the comfort of your room can be soothing, but when the walls start closing in on you while you are knee-deep in the chaos of your office going from meeting to meeting or finishing tasks, it's pretty hard to keep brimming emotions at bay. Shiv Roy from HBO's hit series Succession gets it. Without giving away spoilers, let's just say that Roy is famously known for scheduling time from her busy work day to grieve. And while making a quick note in your calendar to get your cry sesh out of the way is quite favourable, how exactly does one schedule something as dynamic as grief, and is it emotionally healthy to do?
