Buying a home and then knocking it down to start again is an emotional decision. But Marcus and Eliza Waring’s house on this leafy, north London street was tired, run-down and lacked space for their family including Lucas, 19, and Bella, five. A rebuild was the only way they could create their ‘dream home’.
The planning, demolition and rebuild journey took two years, but their best decision, says Eliza, was to bring on board interior designer Amy Stoddart, who started working with the architects even before building began. Having a professional designer involved from the start ensured the home’s interiors matched the build quality of this elegant Georgianstyle, five-bedroom home.
‘Amy’s involvement from the early stages of planning, coordinating furniture choices with floor plans, to visiting the construction site, ensured every detail was well thought out,’ says Eliza.
