Caffeine fix
Kick-start your morning with ethically sourced coffee at Craft, the lounge on the ground floor of Kimpton Maa-Lai Bangkok, which opens as early as 7am. Craft is not only known for excellent coffee, but for creative cocktails and craft beers served in a convivial, pet-friendly setting. You might even encounter some adorable pooches while sipping your brew at this social hub.
Craft has partnered with Karo, a supplier of specialty artisanal coffees from beans grown by farmers in Nan Maneepruek, Nan province (northern Thailand). Karo also owns a hip local coffeehouse with branches in Soi Pridi Banomyong (Watthana) and Thong Lor. It is the brainchild of Karo Iyash, a Sri Lankan-Maldivian who is passionate about showcasing Thailand’s locally grown coffee beans. His team of baristas travels to coffee farms and gets involved in every stage of the production process, from sourcing ethical green coffee beans to roasting and blending.
Available only at Craft is Karo’s signature Crafty Premium Blend, a combination of 40 percent Thai Robusta and 60 percent Thai Arabica. With notes of clementine, black cherry, nutmeg and honey, it’s recommended in americano, espresso and cold brew. The Kimpton Blend, also exclusively available at Craft, consists of 100 percent Thai Robusta medium roast with notes of peach, olive, caramel and cacao nibs.
For late breakfast options, take a short stroll to the nearby Café Kitsune at Veela Sindhorn Village facing Lang Suan Road. The outlet here rolls out great coffee along with avocado toast, eggs benedict and a selection of sandos.
