RUBEN AMORIM has described Manchester United as the "engine of the Premier League" and pledged to get them motoring again on the road to success.
Under Erik ten Hag, United broke down completely, stranded on football's hard shoulder with no identity or direction, until the Dutchman was sacked last month after two-and-a-half charge years in But former Sporting Lisbon coach Amorim, appointed to replace Ten Hag, said United will show their new identity under him from his very first game, at Ipswich a week tomorrow.
The new head coach said: "We know we are the engine of football. Manchester United is the engine of the Premier League.
"When Manchester United talked to me they told me about their plans and you get excited. It's a real honour because I was the first choice to start that path. It's a great responsibility.
