'BREAKING POINT' FEAR ON ENERGY

A JUMP in energy bills averaging £155 this autumn will push some families to breaking point, campaigners warn.

Industry regulator Ofgem is due to announce the level of its energy price cap for millions of households on Friday.

The cap controls the maximum rate suppliers can charge those on standard variable tariffs and prepayment meters.

In July the cap came down to the equivalent of £1,568 a year for a typical household on a standard tariff paying by direct debit.
