Scones are Scottish and called skuns

WE’VE been saying scone wrong for years!

Experts say it doesn’t rhyme with “gone” or “cone” – it’s actually pronounced “skun”.

What’s more, boffins now believe the baked treat originated in the Scottish town of Scone, or Skun.

According to the University of Cambridge’s The Great Scone Map, those who rhyme it with “gone” are normally from the North, while southerners and the Irish tend to rhyme it with “cone”.
