For Red Devils fan Peet, who started as a volunteer scholarship assistant coach at hometown Wigan before a remarkable rise to first-team boss, it could not have been scripted better.

Despite nailing the Challenge Cup in his debut season last year and now adding the League Leaders' Shield and Old Trafford glory, he knows it is not enough.

With billionaire businessman Mike Danson taking over the club next month, it is no surprise Wigan are tipped for more silverware.
