CRISIS? WHAT CRISIS?

SEAN DYCHE has laughed off suggestions of an Everton “crisis” after just two games of the season.

The Toffees boss also dismissed criticism of the club’s transfer activity in the window, by joking: “I was trying for Harry Kane, that didn’t work out.”

There was a serious point to the manager’s comments though, as Dyche believes he and his team are suffering because of the baggage from several years of decline and in-fighting at the club.

That baggage does include transfer restrictions because of over-spending under owner Farhad Moshiri in the past.

And the sense of a club in a permanent state of crisis is hardly helped by news that an investment company, MSP Sports Capital, has walked away from a potential deal to buy 25 per cent of the club.

Dyche wants fans and critics to concentrate on the here and now – and the reality of the situation, not perceptions caused by the past.

That does include a new financial reality, which provoked his quip about Kane.
