ERNIE’S VALENTINE (1.50) was beaten a length and a quarter into second spot by Amber Island at Leicester in June, and he should gain his revenge on the subsequent winner in the Virgin Bet Best Odds Daily Handicap run over seven furlongs at Sandown Park, as he is 10lb better off with his conqueror.

Paul Cole’s beast has the assistance of the brilliant Oisin Murphy in the saddle for the first time, so have an each-way wager around the 9-1 ledge.

In the William Hill Silver Cup Handicap run over a mile and a half at Beverley, AIMERIC (2.05) can take this for Roger Varian.

The four-year-old snared a similar affair at Doncaster in June when racing off a perch of 92 under Jack Mitchell. The same jockey is making the long trek to Humberside to partner the beast, who races off a rating of 96. The son of Frankel didn’t enjoy the soft ground at Newmarket last time but will be more at home on this quicker surface.
