FROZEN food sales are on the up as hard-up shoppers cut back on waste.

Supermarkets shifted an extra 7.6million tonnes of frozen fare in the three months to June compared to the same time last year.

It comes as families swap perishable groceries, such as fruit and veg, for the freezer aisle.
