Oarsome Glover to eclipse Tokyo pain

OLYMPIC legend Sir Steve Redgrave expects supermum Helen Glover to lead Team GB on a rampage of shock and oar in the Paris 2024 regatta.

And Redgrave, who won an astonishing five gold medals in consecutive Games from 1984-2000, expects the Brits to banish their Tokyo nightmare three years ago, when there was no rowing gold for the first time since 1980.

Glover, who won Great Britain’s first gold at London 2012 with Heather Stanning, set out at 11.50am local time on the golden pond of Eton Dorney.

She will set off at exactly the same time here on August 1 in search of a third Olympic title.

Mother-of-three Glover, who along with Tom Daley will be Team GB’s flagbearers in tomorrow’s opening ceremony, missed out in Japan after a cruel lane draw left her and Polly Swann battling waves while her rivals raced on a millpond.
