The Met Office alert came after fire crews tackled a blaze near an army training camp in Aldershot, Hants, last Thursday, when more than 25 acres of parched grassland and gorse were destroyed.
Two Scottish firefighters were also hurt battling what is thought to be the largest wildfire recorded in the UK, covering 30 square miles near the Highlands village of Cannich, last week.
According to the Met Office's Fire Severity Index, there is a "very high" risk of fires causing damage in the South and Midlands this week.
This rises to the highest level of "exceptional" in some parts of South Wales on Thursday.
