A page from a review copy of royal author Omid Scobie's book new Endgame sent to Dutch journalists appeared to reveal the identity of the royal who allegedly asked a publicity shy couple about the skin colour of their son.
The pair accused a senior royal of expressing "concern" about their child's complexion in an interview with Oprah Winfrey.
Mr Scobie blamed a translation error and said UK law prevented him revealing royals' names.
