UKRAINE tennis ace Elina Svitolina dedicated reaching the semifinals to the soldiers fighting back in her homeland – and vowed to toast her victory with a beer.
The wildcard claimed the mother of all victories by stunning world No.1 Iga Swiatek in front of an adoring Centre Court crowd.
Svitolina only returned to the WTA Tour in April after giving birth to her first child Skai last October. And she has now beaten four Grand Slam champions to reach the last four here.
“It’s really unbelievable what they are doing for our country,” said the world No.76 of the troops defending Ukraine from Russian invaders.
