Brains at the University of Lancaster have discovered William Shakespeare, also known as The Bard, inset, thought of dinner as the "main meal, eaten around midday"! Their conclusion follows 30 years of analysis of the writer's work.
They also found the Midlands-born playwright used "supper" as his "preferred term for the evening meal".
Researcher Jonathan Culpepper said: "How you see that debate depends on what part of the country you come from.
"Most of the population is in the south, but in the north or Midlands, they say dinner for lunch. Is that a little hint about Shakespeare, the Warwick lad? I don't know, maybe."
