Harsha, Mandi, Khadija, Mahira and Stevie Starr will join the pupils in the country's longest-running comic as it gets ready to celebrate its 85th birthday.
The moves come after comic bosses consulted Inclusive Minds - a consultancy that recently rewrote Roald Dahl's children's books to remove offensive material.
Mike Stirling, 49, of the Dundee-based comic is unfazed by being branded "woke" by ageing ex readers.
He said: "The makeup of that class was okay in 1954 but it had to change."
