HIGH numbers of cats are being infected by the bird flu virus.

Pet owners are being urged to keep their moggies inside, as the World Health Organization warns they are catching the virus around the globe.

Figures show 29 cats in Poland have tested for the deadly virus in recent days.

WHO said: “Some cats developed symptoms including difficulty in breathing, bloody diarrhoea, and neurological signs, with rapid deterioration and death in some cases.
