True Brit Dan in Minaur miracle

DAN EVANS and Jack Draper triumphed in style yesterday to earn Great Britain a superb victory over Australia in their opening match at the Davis Cup in Manchester.

Evans claimed his best Davis Cup win as he beat world No.12 Alex De Minaur – the highest-ranked player in the group – 6-1 2-6 6-4.

It was a victory that sealed Britain’s triumph after Draper made it a debut to remember, as he beat Thanasi Kokkinakis 6-7 6-3 7-6 in front of a jubilant 9,000-strong crowd at the AO Arena.
