THE UK's gritters were ready for action last night as the first "disruptive snow" of the winter was set to fall overnight.
Weather warnings were in place as folk battened down the hatches for the first proper taste of Arctic blasts this year.
Snow was expected across large parts of Britain. And forecasters issued several yellow weather warnings for snow and ice for lots of the UK this morning.
There were warnings about power cuts and disruption to roads and public transport.
