<p>A new version of the kids&rsquo; show is in the works and will feature classic characters including Great Uncle Bulgaria, Tobermory and Orinoco.</p>
<p>The Wombles were litter-picking creatures whose motto was &ldquo;make good use of bad rubbish&rdquo;.</p>
<p>They were positive role models as the green movement grew in the&nbsp;1970s. Production company Altitude Media Group promises &ldquo;a modern remake&rdquo; of the show.</p>

<p>And a new poster includes the tagline: &ldquo;The world needs them.&rdquo;&nbsp;The original TV series aired between 1973 and 1975, followed by a revival of the Wimbledon Common dwellers in the late 1990s.</p>
