BRITAIN’S most severe November storm for nearly seven decades is ready to batter the country today. 

And another Atlantic tempest is due to follow this Saturday.

Storm Ciarán was scheduled to bring hurricane-force 110mph winds as forecasters warned of the potential chaos.

There are likely to be blackouts, cancelled flights and ferries, falling trees shutting roads and rail lines plus floods.
