Duct-taped banana artist says his work is a 'provocation' on value of art

The Italian artist Maurizio Cattelan, who created the artwork featuring a banana duct-taped to a wall, which sold this week for $6.2 million (about ₹52 crore), said in an interview on Friday that the work was an "invitation to appreciate the true value of art".

Comedian by Cattelan was bought on Wednesday at an auction in New York (US) by Chinese cryptocurrency entrepreneur Justin Sun. It first rocked the art world in 2019 on its debut at Miami's Art Basel.
