A PLYMOUTH cakemaker who first took an interest in cake-making ten years ago after seeing a cute dog cake is wowing customers with her creations.
Suzanne French decided to attempt making the cake herself and as it “turned out ok” she took up baking as a hobby, alongside working full-time. By 2020, the 58-year-old had set up her own home-based cake business, The Cake Room.
The Cake Room, situated on Greenwood Park Road in Plympton, has a five-star food hygiene rating and Suzanne, a former computer programmer, has plans to take on more work.
She said her business flourished during lockdown and she worked part-time alongside cake-making, but after being made redundant she is set to take on more orders each week.
