BOY, 5, UNABLE TO GET VITAL OP

THE mother of a little boy awaiting urgent brain surgery says she is watching his “future fade away”, due to the NHS being unable to schedule his operation.

Tamsin Hollis says she is at a “total loss” and does not know where to turn, after more time passes without her son, Fox, not undergoing the surgery he needs.

The five-year-old was diagnosed with focal epilepsy at the age of two when he suffered a prolonged tonic clonic seizure lasting 80 minutes.

Tamsin said it became clear after trying a number of different medications that her son was ‘medresistant’, which means his seizures are uncontrolled.

At present, Fox is said to have a seizure every day. Tamsin said she has been warned by medical professionals, that with every month that passes her son will be losing IQ and EQ points and that ‘his life will be less’.

The worried mother said Fox is also now struggling to speak and interact socially as a result of his condition. Fox has been on the surgery pathway waiting list for two-and-a-half years and Tamsin is unsure when her son will have surgery.

“I am at a total loss of where to turn and feel that we have run into every brick wall possible,” she said. “MPs must listen and change must happen as we are already letting down an entire generation of children who could go on to be productive members of society but the very fabric of who they are and what they can achieve is being stripped away.
