DEVONPORT Dockyard operator Babcock International Group is in dispute with the Government over huge losses it is set to make from its £1.25 billion frigate-building contract.
The engineering firm has seen costs soar on the five-ship deal to the point where it is expecting to make a loss of up to £100 million.
The company, which employs more than 5,000 people in Plymouth, said the Government should pay for the losses, but ministers are not accepting this.
Babcock was awarded the contract in 2019, with the ships being designed in Plymouth and built at Rosyth, in Scotland. The first vessel is due for completion this year.
