Plymouth firm expands into European market

PURCHASE OF GERMAN BRAND MAKES SHIFT A MAJOR PLAYER

PLYMOUTH’S “Uber for removals” firm, Shift, has bought a huge European company to become a £100 million business with more that 300 employees.

Shift, which started with just five people in 2017, has acquired Berlinbased home move technology company Movinga in a landmark deal that sees the combined entity become the biggest large-item logistics business across the Continent.

With turnover now expected to rise above £100 million, Shift has ambitions for huge international growth. The acquisition creates a combined business with operations in seven European countries – the UK, Ireland, France, Germany, Austria, Sweden and Switzerland.

The enlarged group will have more than 300 workers across the UK and central Europe. Movinga will retain its brand, which is a household name in Europe.
