RESIDENTS DEMAND PUBLIC MEETING OVER UNAUATHORISED USE OF PLAYING FIELDS

Members of the OPM rugby club, which uses the large clubhouse on the field, have confirmed the property was broken into, but fortunately members had emptied it themselves and placed the contents in a safe location.

The green door at the rear of the building still shows signs of damage from where it was forced open.

Residents have claimed there have been a number of youngsters from the encampment who have ‘intimidated’ local children in the ‘sandy’ park, while numerous posts have highlighted how children have been seen riding quad bikes over the rugby pitches and along the new footpath which runs alongside Hercules Road.

A Herald reporter confirmed seeing a quad bike ridden by two children ride on to the rugby pitch, up on to the banks and around the footpath several times on Wednesday evening.
