Schuey warns of yet more twists and turns

STEVEN Schumacher has consistently predicted there will be lots of twists and turns in the race for automatic promotion out of League One and there was another example as Plymouth Argyle picked up three more precious points.

The Pilgrims recovered from falling behind early in the second half of their away game against midtable and injury-hit Shrewsbury Town to win 2-1 and stay top of the table.

Skipper Joe Edwards finally grabbed his first goal of the season in the 68th minute when he headed home an excellent cross from striker Niall Ennis.

Then, deep into added time and with Argyle set to drop from first to third position in the table behind title rivals Ipswich Town and Sheffield Wednesday, they came up with a dramatic last-gasp goal as substitute Callum Wright headed home.

Argyle now know that eight points from their final four games - the next three of which are at Home Park will see them secure promotion to the Championship.

Schumacher said: "It's another sore throat and another headache! It's a rollercoaster of emotions this game. It's brilliant though, I love it.

"It was a real tough game. We felt that Shrewsbury were always going to make it hard. I know they are really depleted at the moment with their squad.

"Credit to all of their players, i just said to every one of them that came off they put a right shift in for their team and we have had to work hard to get the win.

"But credit to our players as well because we kept patient, we kept probing, we kept trying to do the right things and in the end we found two moments of quality to go home with maximum points."

Argyle began the second half strongly and had good claims for a penalty after a challenge on Finn Azaz by Chey Dunkley turned down by referee Anthony Backhouse before Shrewsbury opened the scoring against the run of play.
