THE Steve Chapman 501 League title race swung in the direction of the Fawn B as they claimed an 11-0 win over Duchy on the very same night their rivals dropped points.

The Greenbank side won all 26 legs on offer with John Mann top scoring with 14 ton-plusses including one of three 180s for the team.

Mann (26.37) produced a steady display in his 3-0 singles win whilst team-mates were more explosive in their successes by the same scoreline.

Agar netted a brace of 180s on his way to an 11-darter in a 3-0 win, whilst Fred Goldsmith rounded off a 15-darter with a fine 151 checkout that was the highest in the league during the game week.

Goldsmith reached 12 tons overall, whilst Dave Matthews also showed his undoubted class with an 18-darter in another 3-0 win.

That win leaves Fawn B an unassailable nine points ahead of Victory C, who put on quite a show with Octagon in a 7-4 success for the former that saw 118 ton-plusses.

The forefront ton hitter in the match was Billy Evans, who heard a ton or more called no fewer than 14 times whilst throwing.

Next best was Octagon’s Jayden Dodd with 13 that culminated during a 3-2 loss to Evans in the individual phase of play.

Evans got the better of his opponent with Evans’ legs of 18 and 16 replied to with an 18-darter from Dodd in the five-leg thriller.

Evans’ 101 checkout in that contest became crucial in the outcome of that tie, but it wasn’t the highest of the match as that finish was bettered by a 112 from team-mate Jason Pinkerton.

Mark Shears was also prominent for the Honicknowle team with 12 tons, whilst three of his team-mates also reached ten tons each.

Danny Allen’s ten-ton haul was rounded off in a 3-1 singles win that saw him check a leg in 14, whilst Paul Gavican added the team’s only maximum to his double figure tally.
