Couples' cold war over heating apps

COUPLES are having heated rows over smartphone apps that let them adjust the temperature of their home… while still at work.

Just over half admitted bickering about who gets to have control after arriving home to find the house too hot or too cold.

The apps, such as Hive and Nest, can turn on radiators and change thermostat settings even while away from home.

And 64% - almost two-thirds - admitted they had adjusted the temperature to their liking while at work, despite knowing it would cause a row with their partner later.

Women are slightly more likely to indulge in a sneak tweak, with 49% admitting they had adjusted the temperature on the app without telling their partner, compared to 48% of men.
