Back in January, in the wake of Frank Lampard’s sacking, the Nigerian born Dutch international suddenly aborted his loan move from Villarreal to Goodison Park at the 11th hour to go to Tottenham.

To the surprise of many Everton manager Sean Dyche still said yes to another approach to the 26-year-old in the summer – with Villarreal open to a season-long loan.
