Say sorry to gay veterans

RISHI Sunak is set to apologise to gay veterans booted out of the armed forces over their sexuality during decades of discrimination.

A landmark report which comes after a Sunday Mirror campaign for justice recommends the Prime Minister issue an apology on behalf of successive UK governments.

It also calls for compensation for veterans and the restoration of ranks and medals for those sacked.

The Mirror campaigned on behalf of up to 20,000 LGBT+ veterans jailed or dismissed because of their sexuality.

The study is said to detail troops given electric-shock conversion therapy and intrusive examinations.
