The Shinde group, sources said, is likely to appoint a new group leader in the Lok Sabha and a chief whip on Tuesday. A leader from the Shinde faction said BJP is likely to allot two ministerial berths at the Centre to Sena MPs who join the group.
MLA Deepak Kesarkar, spokesperson for the Shinde camp, said “all” Sena MPs were with the Shinde faction. Leaders from the Shinde camp said Mumbai South Central MP Rahul Shewale is likely to be appointed as the faction’s group leader in the Lok Sabha, while Yavatmal MP Bhavana Gawli could be the new chief whip. CM Shinde is also likely to meet the BJP top brass in New Delhi on Tuesday to discuss Sena’s position in Lok Sabha and the expansion of the Maharashtra cabinet.
“We are likely to get one cabinet berth and one minister of state (MoS) post at the Centre. The CM will be in New Delhi on Tuesday, and this will be discussed with the BJP high command. Allotment may take a few more weeks, probably after the cabinet expansion in Maharashtra and the SC verdict in the MLAs’ disqualification case,” the leader said.
