Being someone who's always loved futuristic, dynamic concepts I had immediately decided that I wanted to do a shoot with UV.
Through the earliest stages of this concept I aspired to depict the effects of mysterious substances on our minds and how we see the world differently after consuming them. And hence, what better than illustrating it through nature? As I wanted the vibe to be psychedelic and colourful I finally landed on the idea of butterflies, nature's most colourful species.
I further chose to use slow shutter speeds and super wide angle frames to exhibit the psychedelic state of mind I.e., of motion and volatility. To achieve a crisp image while also showing motion I combined the use of Broncolor Flash UV attachment along with UV tube lights.
70s Afro
This image, one that is often most liked by my creative peers, serves as a continual reminder for me to always shoot till YOU are satisfied.
This was a shoot I had done for styling students' portfolio. They had a select few predetermined shots in mind and owing to limited time and equipment we were forced to work quickly, neither of which were resulting in the kind of work I expect to come out of my shoots. Towards the end, after fulfilling the shoot's requirements, despite the mounting pressure of studio boys asking to vacate, I requested for 10 mins to capture few more images "my way". And that, prolifically, led to producing some phenomenal images, including this one.
This was the image that bagged, extensive appreciation for the stylists and myself and landed me many further shoots with them and their peers.
