Tecno has, over the last few years, upgraded itself to enter the highly competitive mid-price smartphones segment. The Camon series includes camera-centric phones, and the 20-series is their latest. The Camon 20 series includes the Camon 20, Camon 20 Pro and the top variant Camon 20 Premier.
Design and Build Quality
Tecno has pulled all stops in designing the Camon 20 Premier. The device looks similar to the current iPhones in the market with a plain rounded rectangle design with a glossy side band. The device is about a millimetre taller than the iPhone 14 Pro Max and a few millimetres thinner. The device is much lighter than the 14 Pro Max, probably due to the extensive use of polycarbonates. The rear sports a Camon puzzle design with a faux leather finish that keeps fingerprints at bay. The design certainly provides a premium appearance to the phone.
Key Features
Tecno did not share the detailed specifications of the phone, and the brand's website looks like it is created to provide as little information as possible. Hence this review is based on what little information was available and what we could find out from our experience.
The Tecno Camon 20 Premier is powered by a Mediatek Dimensity 8050 octa-core processor developed using 6nm process. With a peak clock frequency of 3GHz and a nine-core GPU, the SoC is ready for a superior gaming experience. The phone offers 8GB RAM with the possibility to expand another 8GB with Virtual RAM. The device offers 512GB of internal storage. The Camon 20 Premier uses a 6.67-inch AMOLED True-colour screen that offers up to 120Hz of adaptive refresh rate. The phone uses vapour chamber cooling for efficient heat dissipation.
