This was taken at Brown Bluff, a cliff of volcanic rocks on the very tip of Antarctica’s Tabarin Peninsula. The colony here is made up of around 20,000 breeding pairs of Adélie penguins, plus a couple of hundred pairs of Gentoo penguins, which you can see spread out in a few pockets along the rocks. This group was really quite large, providing a great opportunity to show the scale of the peninsula’s penguin population.
