You have spent more than 20 years in the Indian fashion industry. How has fashion evolved over the years? Do you see a shift towards sustainability?
Fashion has majorly evolved over the years, we have seen a change in buying patterns, style statements and garment constructions. We have moved on to new techniques and technologies aligned towards a sustainable lifestyle. Digital prints are the future, and we are working on those lines in many ways now. Every designer is getting in touch with new fabric mills and working with sustainable fabrics. In terms of buying, clients want looks that can be mixed and matched and worn more than once. Upscaling old outfits and turning them into newer looks are in vogue now.
You are known for marrying architecture with fashion, and geometrical silhouettes with engineered precision in your collections. Where do you draw your inspiration from? Do you travel to explore architectural marvels around the world?
Rohit and I own an art gallery as well where we support architectural and abstract artists a lot. We recently showcased Zaha Hadid’s artwork at our Palette Art Gallery, she is our favourite architectural artist.
