6 Reasons Why We Love Kate

1 Compassionate Kate

Kate was honoured with an MBE in 2022 for services to broadcasting, journalism and charity. When it comes to the latter, she has generously supported good causes for many years, most recently The Prince's Trust and charities working with homeless people and local communities. In 2012 she also became an ambassador for the Make-A-Wish Foundation, the charity which grants wishes to children fighting a life-threatening condition.

Since her husband's severe health struggles, Kate has also championed the incredible work of the nation's carers, saying, "We have a care crisis in our country. But we don't have a crisis of love. The professional carers are extraordinary; the millions who care for people they love are extraordinary. We all feel alone. We all need some care and love."

2 Caring Wife

As Covid-19 began to sweep across the country in early 2020, Kate's husband Derek was admitted to intensive care with the virus and remained hospitalised for 13 months. He eventually returned home, but remains in a serious condition, supported by Kate and a team of carers.
