Sue's Guide Ways To Get A Free Eye Test

Sight tests can cost around £25, but there are a number of ways you can qualify for a free one.

Lots of us are eligible for a free eye test, including adults who are aged 60 or over, or if you've been diagnosed with diabetes or glaucoma, or claim certain benefits.

There are many other situations where you may be due a free eye test, so it's worth checking the full list on the NHS website, nhs.uk.

If you're on a low income, and you or your partner claim Income Support, Pension Credit (Guarantee Credit) or Universal Credit, you can get a free sight test. You may be able to claim vouchers towards the cost of glasses or contact lenses too.

Anyone who spends most of the day working at a computer can ask their boss to stump up for a sight test. While you may have to book and pay for this yourself, you should then be able to claim back the cost. More details are given on the Health and Safety Executive website, hse.gov.uk
