She’s been on our screens for 40 years and is often affectionately dubbed the Queen of Daytime TV Yet as she prepares to become a grandmother, could it be the right time for Lorraine Kelly to step away from her daily morning ITV show to spend more time with her loved ones?
Lorraine, 64, has made no secret of her joy at the fact that her 30-year-old daughter Rosie is expecting her first child a baby girl. ‘This is the most exciting thing to happen to our family since Rosie was born,’ she said. And she’s even confessed that she’s ready to help with the new arrival, saying, ‘I’ll be available any time to help out; whatever I’m doing, I’ll drop it.’
So does that include her job? And will ITV bosses be happy with her new plan?
FAMILY FIRST
Lorraine clearly can’t wait to become a grandmother and is taking the role seriously. ‘I’m very happy with being called granny. I know some people don’t like that, but I think it’s a badge of honour,’ she said. And she previously confessed that she’s even named her unborn granddaughter, revealing, ‘I’ve no idea what she’s going to be called but I’m calling her Tallulah-Belle in my head.’ She added, ‘I might’ve mentioned once or twice that I’m going to be a granny. It is exciting, I have to make sure I don’t get too excited about it.’
With Lorraine planning on being a hands-on grandma, her priorities are about to change. So would that mean stepping down from her daily hosting duties? The star also has her elderly mum, Anne, to think about, who in 2023 was diagnosed with a kidney disease and is still unwell, meaning Lorraine has had to take some time off work.
