Chloe Sweden, 42, lives in Hertfordshire and is the founder of Lowr.

As a vegan, finding suitable food on a menu can be a struggle at the best of times - but on a plane, it's a nightmare. My day-to-day job is all about sustainability and lowering environmental impact, so I try not to fly too often, usually no more than two or three times per year for holidays and work.

Recently, I was asked to talk at a conference in San Francisco, so I booked myself a seat on an economy airline and hoped for the best. I was served veggie food on the way there and had to pick around the dairy, but when I received the vegan option on the flight home, it wasn't much better.
