Emotions ran high as the princess learnt of her brother-in-law's betrayal

Oh, to be a fly on the wall in Buckingham Palace’s “war room” – set up last week by the offices of the King, and the Prince and Princess of Wales, as they prepared to absorb Prince Harry’s latest attacks on the monarchy in the pages of his book Spare.

According to insiders, the biggest surprise of all to the royal family was the fact that Kate, once adored by her brother-in-law, was perhaps the furthest from being “spared” from the Duke of Sussex’s vendetta against the Windsors.

Harry, 38, used his book to fan the flames of her patchy relationship with his wife Meghan, and insiders say Kate was so upset that “she had to remove herself from the conversation” with The Firm’s team of advisors and lawyers. 

Indeed, the princess – who turned 41 the very day Harry’s controversial tome was released – was last week photographed driving near her Windsor home looking distressed, with sources telling Woman’s Day that the revelations of Spare are taking their toll.
