Always Have a Plan B
The Teenager Today|September 2023
“Never sail on two boats” is an old proverb that has been around for centuries. It is a warning to people not to try doing too many things at once. It’s true that when you focus on two or multiple things at once you might lose focus and may not be able to put a hundred per cent into what you do. Consequently, the results you get may not be up to your expectations.

Always Have a Plan B

If you have a dream plan (Plan A) for your career and life, you should go for it. Tap on all the available resources and chase your dream with all your might. Many of you may be capable of achieving your dream career with determination, hard work, commitment and perseverance. On the other hand, there are others, who after making all the efforts and sacrifices, are unable to accomplish their dream. They might say, “Well, I wasn’t lucky” and try to avoid the conversation. Many of them go through severe emotional upheavals and some might be susceptible to extreme frustration, depression and even emotional breakdowns. What hurts them the most are the people who gossip about them.

We live in a society where failures seem to be unacceptable and success is glorified. Probably, if they had set easy goals like most people, they would have done it easily. They did their best, but somehow they couldn’t make it. After many years of preparations and struggles they find themselves nowhere. After analysis, I realized that they failed to achieve their dream due to a number of reasons: lack of focus, lack of determination, low confidence, wrong direction, improper guidance, low self-esteem, wrong strategies, over-ambitiousness, or was it just because their dream and efforts were contradictory? Well, I want to applaud you if you are one among them because you have gathered the courage and given it a try. Most people don’t even try.
