While many are still hurting today as we enter the third year of our generation’s worst health crisis, it’s hard not to be amazed by the number of businesses, start-ups and entire professional fields that have thrived during the pandemic. The rise of telehealth and delivery services was only logical; the sudden uptick in, say, garden supply stores sounded less so at first. And then there’s aesthetic medicine. In this issue, we talked to two outstanding aesthetic doctors who also happen to be brothers – dr. Kevin Maharis and dr. Ricky Maharis. It was certainly an eye-opening chat as they talked about the rising demand for their skills and services in a world where people spend a large chunk of the time at home in front of screens and cameras, before getting into the details of some of their game-changing innovations. The most valuable part of our conversation, I would say, are the bits about why people would look for aesthetic treatments – and how it eventually changes more than just a person’s looks. Beauty, as the saying goes, is more than skin deep. And if there’s anything we’ve learned from these two gentlemen in the profession of helping people find their most beautiful selves, it’s that being the best version of ourselves in the physical sense goes a long way in pushing us towards becoming the best version of ourselves in the most fundamental way.
