Media freedom is a primary requirement for democracy. If the media is threatened or intimidated, then democracy will be in jeopardy. Political parties, big and small, have launched their first-ever major campaign in 25 years, which would be running in cities throughout the months of September and October. There is no doubt the whole world would be watching the unfolding of this political transformation in Myanmar where 30 million eligible voters would be casting their votes in a general election scheduled for November 8.
