1929 MODEL A FORD ROADSTER
KEN AND SHANI CLARKE
BALLARAT, VICFORD ROADSTER
They say Rome wasn’t built in a day, and the same thing seems to apply to hot rods. The chassis for Ken Clarke’s roadster was built for a customer around 20 years ago, but the customer changed his mind, so Ken bought the chassis and roadster body and decided to build it for himself instead.
Not much progress was made over the next 12 years although, to be fair, he did rebuild a Compact Fairlane, two Mustangs (one for his wife, one for their oldest daughter) and a really neat ’32 roadster with four mates (a couple of hours every Tuesday night over a period of eight years, but that’s another story) during this time.
Building the roadster reached the top of the to do list in early 2012 and, from there, it was all systems go. The original A Model chassis had already been boxed by Ken, but he then stepped it before fitting a four inch dropped axle and Rod-Tech four bar front end, a Rod-Tech parallel four bar rear end and a shortened nine inch diff with a 3.0:1 gear ratio.
